As our most advanced students, you are invited to serve as ambassadors at our annual Frisco ESL registration event. Responsibilities will include the following:

1. Welcome new students as they arrive.
2. Visit with them and help them feel comfortable.
3. Tell them about your ESL experiences.
4. Answer their questions about the program.
5. Help assess their English level so they can be placed in the correct classes.

When we are not helping with registration, we will study “Women and the Westward Movement.” In this lesson, we will practice two different reading comprehension strategies. We will also learn a bunch of new vocabulary words and will review past simple and past continuous verb tenses, all while playing the game “Oregon Trail.”

Homework: 1. Re-read The Rag Coat story, paying particular attention to the vocabulary words in bold. Pick one or two of the words and use them at least 7 times this weekend in your daily conversations. 2. Complete the reading comprehension check (see below). 3. Think about the following question and come to class on Tuesday prepared to discuss your ideas: "How is our class like Minna's rag coat?"
